2025 JLB Preview: S-Scale Esses all over Choo

Well, Choo isn't going to be happy. The math is in and Choo's offseason was officially the worst in JLB history.

He will go from the best in the JLB to the worst in one year. Atop the world with several MVP-caliber players, Choo shipped off everyone in a Marlins-esque post-title dump, and it showed in the Slammer S-Scale.

Sad Shin-Soo Choo
He will have the worst offense and the worst pitching in the JLB.

From the projections, he's lacking stats in most every category that the JLB cares about, and it's going to take some major surprises to even think about being a fifth-place team.

And his tumble from the top has created an interesting situation where the Gamblers and Tornadoes jumped up to the top of the standings in the S-Scale projections, followed closely by Breakfast and Crox.

The Panthers will need some help and breakouts — from guys like Cam Smith — to get into the conversation.

On the National League side, it's 2024 all over again. The Steaks, Dude and Slammers are set to battle it out for the division once again and they have a healthy lead on Quad Eh who will really fight for that silver medal this year if the S-Scale comes true.

Nutz and Tots need similar breakouts as the Panthers to get into the conversation, according to the S-Scale. The Nutz did wind up with the best pitching projections in the N.L., so he just needs some offense to get him going if that is the case.

And Choo has to be happy that he is at least not in the National League.

The S-Scale was pretty good last year. I properly predicted the top 3 in the NL, but only had Choo and Breakfast making the playoffs in the AL. It had Crox over the Gamblers, but it likes the Gamblers big time this year, so maybe that will make up for it.

The system isn't able to factor in poor projections or projections that are lacking — a la Cam Smith have zeroes across the board right now — but overall, it does a decent job.

But more importantly, it does what all of us truly want out if it — it annoys the hell out of Choo.
