Toast to the end of 2009

The Toasters thought long and hard in the offseason about his QB position.

He could have kept Big Ben, but instead he went with Matt Schaub.

That move paid off all season and continued on Sunday as Schaub, the No. 5 fantasy QB, scored 25.7 points to lead the Toast to his first league title with a 132-103 win over the Noise in JFL Super Bowl IV.

And who says defense doesn’t win championships.

The Ravens, ranked No. 2 in fantasy football, scored another 22 Sunday pushing their playoff total up to 68 points. Not a bad string of games for the Toasters.

Chris Johnson was his normal self going for 23.9 points and Ray Rice had another double-digit day with 13.5.

All that proved to be too much to the Noise who fumbled away the win — literally.

Laurence Maroney fumbled once Sunday (his fourth in seven weeks) and it landed him on the bench with just 0.2 points.

That was a big hit for the Noise, who’s other RB Ricky Williams went for just 6.1 points.

It’s a shame that Ronnie Brown was lost for the season, because 30 points from the Noise’s two RBs would have made this matchup much different.
The Noise rode the wave of the Wildcat to the playoffs and without Brown, it has been slim pickings at RB.

But the Noise has a bigger complaint and he can point his anger toward Coach Jim Caldwell. He sat his Colts starters, including Dallas Clark, when they could have used them to pull off a comeback against the Jets.

That comeback would certainly have included Clark who had 5 TDs in the first two playoff weeks.

Without a touchdown Sunday, Clark had just 5.7 points.

And because of the Jim Caldwell and Laurence Maroney, the Johnson brothers have combined to lose the last three Super Bowls.

One more and my brother and I can join the ranks of the Buffalo Bills.
One more for the Toasters and he can join the ranks of the Pittsburgh Steelers.

No one has won multiple JFL titles yet.

Parity. Got to love it.

The Toasters, along with the Jammers, Generals and Thieves will look to do so next year.

I figure if we keep having new champions, by 2018 we'll have a repeat champion.

Which means I have to wait until 2018. At which point I’ll be … 36… Oh God. Time to freak out. I better do everything I can to win another Super Bowl title before I’m 36.

And I have to do a better job than Brett Favre has.
