Week 6 Preview

The Dottsville Toasters and the Jammers will be representing the JFL in Section 420, Row 4, waving rally towels as Roy Oswalt throws first pitch in Game 2 Sunday night.

Prior to that first pitch, the two will represent the JFL in the tailgating heaven that will start at about 10 a.m. and roll through the Eagles 1 p.m. game and up until the Phils' first pitch at 8.

The two will hope to come home to fantasy wins early Monday morning... but only one is predicted by the Jammers to do so. You may be surprised which one it is considering how biased I can be when it comes to my fantasy team.

Jimmy Jammers (4-1) at T-Money (2-3)

There are a few bad defenses in the NFL that you can just count on allowing a lot of yards and fantasy points.

T-Money has players going up against several of the NFL's worst, and that's why he may have the JFL's best day.

Kenny Britt, who took a while to emerge in Tennessee, has showed up and with a game at Jacksonville, he should be able to find some opening in the secondary and hit double-digits.

But not as many as Dwayne Bowe who will be playing Houston.

It's got to be tough to be a Houston fan. Coming off your first winning season in franchise history, things were looking good.

It was even looking better after the Texans started 2-0 with an opening win over the hated Colts. But looking closely at the stats, Peyton Manning and Donovan McNabb each had huge days passing in those first two games.

Now the Texans can't score, and they can't seem to stop anyone.

At first, it was said it was because they were missing Cushion for the first four games because of his substance abuse suspension. But he came back last week and Eli Manning had a field day.

At this point, teams are just exploiting that weakness and the Texans can't fix it. So where did things go wrong?

Well, all you have to do is look to the offseason when the Texans let cornerback Duante Robinson walk. He was clearly one of the best in the NFL — and now he's helping the Falcons out tremendously.

There are some things you can't fix with rookies. The Texans should have paid Robinson.

Now they're paying dearly for not paying him.

Bowe will be the next person to make him pay.

T-Money also should get similar performances out of Frank Gore (against Oakland) and Antonio Gates (against St. Louis). Tony Romo also has a good matchup against Minnesota.

The only thing that could hurt T-Money is that seven of his nine fantasy players are on the road, and that always can lower projected totals.

But the Jammers also have seven of nine on the road, and the matchups are worse. Only Malcolm Floyd against St. Louis looks nice.

It may be a bummer day for the Jammers, which is why he'll be down in Philly all day not looking at his Fantasycast for the first NFL week in a long time.

Jammers' Biased Prediction: T-Money 152, Jammers 105

Jawz Attack (1-4) at Dottsville Toasters (2-3)

He's back!

Big Ben is back and ready to ra..... OK. That would have been a bad choice of words.

Let's try again...

Big Ben is back and ready to... to... raid the NFL. He's going to tear through defensive secondaries without permission.

He's going to be strong in the pocket, just like he was before his suspension, and shake off tacklers and refuse to go down — which is ironic, isn't it?

OK. Enough sex innuendos. It's time to be serious. Because that's the approach Big Ben is taking. He is going to be on his game and what better way to start than against Cleveland?

I'm liking Ben for several touchdown passes. It may be four or five in his debut.

That will help with the undrafted lineup that Jawz will be throwing out there on Sunday.

Brandon Jackson, Mike Tolbert, Josh Morgan and Brandon Lloyd all will start for Jawz, and all were waiver pickups. They also have been fairly decent substitutions for the problems that he has run in to.

Speaking of problems, the Toasters has a big one at quarterback. Matt Schaub can't decide whether he's a star quarterback or Rex Grossman. Last week he was the latter.

And it wouldn't have mattered had the Toasters not faced the high-scoring Slackers last week, because Chris Johnson and Matt Forte both went crazy. They should do the same this week. I also like Matt Schaub to actually throw a TD pass this week.

But it will be a close game.

Jammers' Prediction: Toasters 123, Jawz 120

Fear and Loathing (3-2) at Channel 4 News Team (4-1)

This may be the matchup of the week.

It means a lot for both teams.

For the News Team, he's trying to keep pace with the seemingly unstoppable Organ Thieves.

Fear and Loathing, on the other hand, is trying to keep his distance between himself and Houserville.

Both of their rivals lost last week, so it will be keep for each of them to win this week.

But only one will.

And it's tough to pick a winner out of this one.

News Team has the distinct advantage at quarterback with Kyle Orton, but Fear's backs — Jamaal Charles and Michael Bush — should have great days, much better than a banged up Arian Foster and a little-used John Kuhn.

The wideouts are a bit of a wash, but I can see Randy Moss having a good day and Brent Celek outgaining DeSean Jackson because Kevin Kolb is the quarterback.

If Michael Vick somehow comes in, this will flip to News Team quickly.

And it could come to that. Kolb could struggle against the Falcons defense and be relegated to the bench with an ineffective first half, thus paving the way for Vick and Jackson in the second half.

Nevertheless, I think Charles is set for a big day for Fear. With the aforementioned Texans pass defense "standing" in the "way," a few screen passes to Charles could lead to a few big plays. A 40-plus-yard TD is not out of the question.

Jammers' prediction: Fear 124, News Team 116

Real Houserville (2-3) at Graybill's Generals (2-3)

It's a big weekend for these two teams.

One team is heading to .500. Another is heading for a hole.

For the Generals, he's been digging out of a hole from the start and in order to keep it going, he's going to need a big day out of Joe Flacco, among other things.

The kind of day Flacco had in New England in last year's AFC Playoffs.

After a slow start, Flacco has turned things around fantasy-wise and I like for it to continue. The Ravens defense should give the offense several chances to score and Flacco will have many opportunities to add to his fantasy value.

That should happen, but he's running with Chester Taylor and Correll Buckhalter at RB.

Thankfully for him, Houserville has Felix Jones and Ryan Torain at RB, and this can easily be a wash.

The Ville also has Rashard Mendenhall back off the BYE in the FLEX position, and this is where this matchup could be won. Mendenhall could win the Steelers' first-quarter MVP. Without him, they're not 3-1. He won their opener in OT with a huge touchdown run. He ran for 143 and a TD in a blowout of Tampa Bay. He's been key, holding this team together.

But Sunday is the day we find out what the Steelers will do. I've talked about it over and over again. What would Mendenhall's role be with Big Ben back? Against a poor Cleveland team, we'll find out, because there's no reason why the Steelers should have more passes than runs Sunday (unless they're losing). If the pass-run ratio favors Ben in a big win, then it's worry time for Houserville.

If it leads to a fantasy loss, it will be even more worrisome for Houserville.

Jammers' Prediction: Houserville 106, Generals 97 (without Graybill's pick up a defense to replace Bengals on the BYE); Generals 116, Houserville 106 (if he does get a defense).

Sunday Slackers (2-3) at Team Boyer (3-2)

Ah, it's good to be a Slacker.

Coming off his biggest offensive performance since 2009, the Slackers are primed and ready to have a repeat of last week.

Drew Brees will continue to progress and have a big day in Tampa, but it's going to be the wideouts that help him win this matchup.

Mike Wallace has his boy, Big Ben, back and that means he's going to have a lot of passes coming his way, especially on those deep post routes.

And Tony Gonzalez is going up against the Eagles defense, which over the years has been strong, but a re-occuring weakness has been covering the tight end. Gonzo will hit double-digits Sunday.

Lastly, there's Hakeem Nicks and Steve Smith against Detroit. On paper, this should be worth at least 30-40 combined points, but it will be worth even more considering the fact that Team Boyer is going with Eli Manning at quarterback over Tom Brady.

Brady is facing the tough Ravens defense, but there's a good chance that most of the passes Manning completes will be going to a Sunday Slacker wideout.

Boyer also has trouble-spots in Ryan Matthews, who has been injured and unimpressive. The wideout trio going Sunday has been hit-or-miss, but like Wallace, Boyer's Hines Ward has to be happy with Ben coming back, too. If the Steelers cannot score on the big play to Wallace, it will be the short ins and outs by Hines Ward in the red zone that will lead them to the end zone.

So there you have it. The key to victory is Eli throwing to guys not named Nicks or Smith; and Ward scoring more than Wallace.

... I don't see that happening.

Jammers' PredictionSlackers 140, Boyer 124

World of Noise (1-4) at Chinese Organ Thieves (4-1)

It's probably good that World of Noise is away at boot camp right now.

If he was home to see what his fantasy team was doing, it would drive him to sign up for the Army anyway.

Noise gets his trio of Dolphins back along with former Dolphin Wes Welker, but it will not matter against the Thieves.

Still, I think Henne, Brown and Williams will have better-than-projected days against a banged-up Packers team, but it won't be enough to handle the Thieves.

Phillip Rivers is in line for a big day against St. Louis, Adrian Peterson should score double-digits against Dallas and LeSean McCoy has been stellar this season.

I also like Nate Washington and Reggie Wayne to score a TD, and Lance Moore to bounce back from a poor performance last week.

Simply put, Thieves move to 5-1 and keep the pressure on the News Team.

Noise. Well, next year is looking promising.

Jammers' Prediction: Thieves 141, Noise 106
