The 2025 JLB Winter Meetings Green Draft kicked off with the Minor League Player of the Year and it continued on with some big names in the upcoming 2025 MLB Draft and some International prospects who will come over from Asia this winter.
Here's a look at the first two rounds.
1. Nutz select Kristian Campbell
- Position: Second Baseman/Shortstop/Centerfielder
- Bats/Throws: Right/Right
- Height/Weight: 6'3", 210 lbs
- Team: Boston Red Sox (minors)
- 2024 Stats: .330 AVG, .439 OBP, .558 SLG, 20 HR, 77 RBIs in 115 games. Was named the 2024 Minor League Player of the Year. He seemingly rose out of nowhere, but the hype for the Red Sox prospect is real. “Everything that comes off his bat was absolutely a laser,” his high school coach said. “Every time he hit one, it was on a roll.” And his teammates with the Sea Dogs, including top prospect Marcelo Mayer, call him Barry — as in, Barry Bonds. So it's perfect for Nutz to select him.
2. Sex Panthers select Jamie Arnold
- Position: Pitcher
- Bats/Throws: Left/Left
- Height/Weight: 6'1", 192 lbs
- School: Florida State University
- 2024 Stats: 11-3, 2.98 ERA, 159 SO in 105.2 IP. Arnold is a left-handed pitcher for FSU and was named a 2024 Golden Spikes Award semifinalist. Arnold's fastball touches high 90s, and his career-high 17 Ks on May 10 against Pitt was the most of any FSU pitcher since 1987 and the ACC since 2018.
3. Crox Sox select Dalton Rushing
- Position: Catcher/First Baseman
- Bats/Throws: Left/Right
- Height/Weight: 6'1", 220 lbs
- Team: Los Angeles Dodgers (minors)
- 2024 Stats: .271 AVG, .385 OBP, .512 SLG, 26 HR, 85 RBIs in 114 games. Rushing played at Double-A and Triple-A, with most of the damage (17 HRs, 76 hits) coming at Double-A.
4. Tots select Zyhir Hope
- Position: Outfielder (LF, CF, RF)
- Bats/Throws: Left/Left
- Height/Weight: 5'10", 193 lbs
- Team: Los Angeles Dodgers (minors)
- 2024 Stats: Batted ..287 at Single-A last season with 9 HRs and 31 RBIs. The averaged dropped at the Arizona Fall League (to .228), but he still hit 5 HRs and drove in 21.
5. Topton selects Kayson Cunningham
- Position: Shortstop/Second Baseman
- Bats/Throws: Left/Right
- Height/Weight: 5'10", 175 lbs
- School: Johnson High School, TX
- Notes: 2024 Jackie Robinson Award winner. At age 18, the lefty hitter is committed to play at Texas, but with his No. 6 ranking on Pipeline, he'll likely get drafted and head to the minors, especially with a 60 hit tool.
6. Quad Eh selects Cooper Pratt
- Position: Shortstop
- Bats/Throws: Right/Right
- Height/Weight: 6'4", 195 lbs
- Team: Milwaukee Brewers (minors)
- Minors Career Stats: .286 AVG, .370 OBP, .411 SLG, 8 HR, 31 SB in 108 games. He batted .277 last season in A-ball with 8 HRs, 45 RBIs, 56 runs and 27 stolen bases.
7. Gamblers select Hyeseong Kim
- Position: Second Baseman/Shortstop/Leftfielder
- Bats/Throws: Left/Right
- Height/Weight: 5'10", 176 lbs
- Team: Kiwoom Heroes (KBO)
- 2024 Stats: .326 AVG, .383 OBP, .458 SLG, 11 HR, 30 SB in 127 games. He is being targeted by the Mariners, and with a high-contact rate and speed, he could be a strong addition if that hit tool translates over to the majors.
8. Slammers select Rintaro Sasaki
- Position: First Baseman/Designated Hitter/Third Baseman
- Bats/Throws: Left/Right
- Height/Weight: 6'0", 230 lbs
- School: Stanford University
- Note: Sasaki hit 140 home runs in high school in Japan and is the "High School Home Run King." He opted to play college baseball at Stanford over entering the NPB draft, which will make him draft eligible come 2026. He needs to trim up a bit as he is built like a young Bartolo Colon. He definitely doesn't skip Breakfast, which is what I tried to do after this pick.
9. Breakfast selects Logan Henderson
- Position: Pitcher
- Bats/Throws: Right/Right
- Height/Weight: 5'11", 194 lbs
- Team: Milwaukee Brewers (minors)
- 2024 Stats: 7-6, 3.32 ERA, 104 SO in 81.1 IP. He was added to the 40-man this winter to protect him from the Rule 5 Draft, which means the Brewers will likely give him a shot this year at the majors.
10. Dude selects Tyler Bremner
- Position: Pitcher
- Bats/Throws: Right/Right
- Height/Weight: 6'2", 190 lbs
- School: UC Santa Barbara
- Note: Known for his fastball and changeup. Projected as a top draft pick in 2025. He's No. 4 in MLB Pipeline's Top 100 Draft list after going 11-1 with a 2.54 ERA in 19 games with UC Santa Barbara. He struck out 104 and walked 21.
11. Cheese Steaks select Tomoyuki Sugano
- Position: Pitcher
- Bats/Throws: Right/Right
- Height/Weight: 6'1", 198 lbs
- Team: Yomiuri Giants (NPB)
- Notes: Three-time Central League MVP and Eiji Sawamura Award winner. He's also immediately eligible for a pension and AARP. Sugano took forever to make his way over to MLB so it will be very interesting to see how he transitions at age 35.
12. Choo selects Christian Moore
- Position: Second Baseman/Outfielder
- Bats/Throws: Right/Right
- Height/Weight: 6'1", 210 lbs
- Team: Los Angeles Angels (minors)
- Notes: Led NCAA Division I with 111 hits and 34 homers in 2024. How on Earth was Moore in this draft? I messaged Choo immediately after this pick because I was sure he was on a roster. I didn't even bother looking him up. H moved up to Double-A right away after going 6-for-11 in two games in Single-A. At the next level, he batted .322 (29-for-90) with 5 HRs, 14 RBIs and 18 runs scored. He needs to work on discipline as he struck out at around 33 percent and walked just 8 times.
ROUND 2
1. Nutz select Jackson Ferris
- Position: Pitcher
- Bats/Throws: Left/Left
- Height/Weight: 6'4", 195 lbs
- Team: Los Angeles Dodgers (minors)
- Note: Traded to the Dodgers in 2024. Now that the Dodgers don't have Buehler, is there even a reason to keep Ferris on roster? He struck out 145 in 126.2 innings last year across two levels. He only pitched 28 innings at Double-A, so he will still need some work before cracking the Dodgers rotation.
2. Sex Panthers select Moises Ballesteros
- Position: Catcher/First Baseman
- Bats/Throws: Left/Right
- Height/Weight: 5'8", 215 lbs
- Team: Chicago Cubs (minors)
- Notes: Futures Game selection in 2024. He batted .289 with 19 HRs, 78 RBIs and 57 runs scored. He spent most of his time in 2024 in Triple-A where he batted .281. One would think he'd get a chance to make the Cubs roster at some point this year — or maybe another team's roster as a trade chip.
3. Crox Sox select Emiliano Teodo
- Position: Pitcher
- Bats/Throws: Right/Right
- Height/Weight: 6'1", 165 lbs
- Team: Texas Rangers (minors)
- Notes: Selected for the 2024 MLB Futures Game. He pitched solely at Double-A last year, going 5-4 with a 1.98 ERA, 110 strikeouts and 50 walks.
4. Tots select Jesus Made
- Position: Shortstop/Third Baseman/Second Baseman
- Bats/Throws: Switch/Right
- Height/Weight: 6'1", 187 lbs
- Team: Milwaukee Brewers (minors)
- 2024 Stats: .331 AVG, .458 OBP, .554 SLG, 6 HR, 28 SB in 51 games. Jesus made us all do a double-take when Tots selected him, that's for sure. Made played in Rookie ball last year and batted .331 with 6 triples, 6 HRs, 28 RBIs and 63 runs scored. He also walked more than he struck out (39:28).
5. Topton selects Grady Emerson
- Position: Shortstop/Second Baseman
- Bats/Throws: Left/Right
- Height/Weight: 6'1", 175 lbs
- School: Argyle High School, TX
- Notes: Ranked as the No. 1 prospect in the high school class of 2026 by Baseball America. Committed to Texas.
6. Slammers select Drew Burress
- Position: Outfielder (CF, LF, RF)
- Bats/Throws: Right/Right
- Height/Weight: 5'9", 182 lbs
- School: Georgia Tech
- Notes: Rated as the No. 1 outfielder and No. 2 overall prospect in Georgia by Perfect Game. Named 2021-22 PBR Georgia Player of the Year. He batted .381 with 25 HRs, 67 RBIs and 73 runs scored. He also walked 58 times for an OBP of .512, and only struck out 37 times in 285 at-bats.
7. Dude selects Shunpeita Yamashita
- Position: Pitcher
- Bats/Throws: Right/Right
- Height/Weight: 6'2", 205 lbs
- Team: Orix Buffaloes (NPB)
- Notes: Drafted in the first round of the 2020 NPB draft. Named the opening day starter in 2023 and selected for the 2023 NPB All-Star Game. In 2024, he had a combined ERA of 2.48 across two leagues. He is said to be the successor to Roki Sasaki.
8. Cheese Steaks select Hiroto Takahashi
- Position: Pitcher
- Bats/Throws: Right/Right
- Height/Weight: 6'0", 187 lbs
- Team: Chunichi Dragons (NPB)
- Notes: First draft pick for the Chunichi Dragons in 2020. Set a club record for the fastest pitch by a Japanese pitcher at 98.2 mph (somewhere, Ben Joyce is laughing). In 2024, he posted a 1.30 ERA across two leagues. He struck out Mike Trout in the WBC, but then again, nowadays, who doesn't strike out Mike Trout?
9. Choo selects Colby Thomas
- Position: Outfielder (LF, CF, RF)
- Bats/Throws: Right/Right
- Height/Weight: 5'10", 190 lbs
- Team: Oakland Athletics (minors)
- 2024 Stats: .277 AVG, .342 OBP, .563 SLG, 31 HR, 92 RBI in 132 games across AAA and AA. His numbers were pretty evenly split across both levels, and since he's doing so well in Triple-A, he'll have no problem playing for the A's.
