It's Week 8 and most of us in the League have a nice Sunday of rest.
No Eagles. The Phillies didn't want to play in the World Series. The Flyers are off.
Ah, a Sunday of rest.
Nice. Kick up the feet, grab a iced tea and watch an NFL game worry free.
Today's matchups in the JFL feature a few conference battles and cross-conference battles.
The biggest matchups include Channel 4 News Team (5-2) at Dottsville Toasters (4-3) and T-Money (4-3) at Real Houserville (4-3).
Channel 4 News Team (5-2) at Dottsville Toasters (4-3)
It's a quarterback battle here.
Aaron Rodgers is going against the tough New York Jets and Carson Palmer is back in the lineup for the Toasters and will try to live up to his 412-yard, three-touchdown performance from last week.
But this week, he'll have to do it against the Dolphins who have given up 300-yard passing days in each of their last two games. So it's very possible that this could work.
The Jets have only allowed one 300-yard passer all season, but they have given up passing touchdowns in every week other than Week 1, and at least two in each week other than Week 1 and Week 7.
Rodgers is in the new Meadowlands, and road games haven't bothered him much. What has bothered him this season is mistakes. He's tossed nine picks already. Still, his lowest point total was 19.9 points, and that was Week 1, so News Team isn't complaining. The Jets will have the challenge of holding him to his lowest total to date.
This matchup also features a few team battles, as in both News Team and the Toast have players on the same team battling for points.
News Team has Arian Foster going against the Colts, who he torched for 231 yards and three touchdowns (still bitter about that), while the Toasters have his backfield buddy Derrick Ward, who ran for 72 yards and a TD in their last game.
News Team gets the advantage there.
In the other battle, it's News Team's Miles Austin and Toasters' Dez Bryant.
Austin has had three big games this year, and has been bad in the other three games. Bryant exploded for nearly 30 points last week, but Bryant is more of a live-or-die by the special teams kind of player.
So, I'll have to go with Austin in this matchup.
Which means...
Jammers' Prediction: News Team 134, Toasters 120
T-Money (4-3) at Real Houserville (4-3)
As of right now, this matchup is easily going to be won by Houserville.
T-Money lost his man Tony Romo and hasn't replaced him yet. He also has a BYE-week WR Anquan Boldin in the starting lineup, so hopefully he gets that fixed by 1 p.m.
If I were him, I'd get Jason Campbell.
Still, it may not matter.
Peyton Manning will seal this matchup on Monday night with at least 30 fantasy points and with Pierre Garcon on the roster, there's some double-points up for grabs.
But I must say, there is reason to worry for the Ville.
Darren McFadden has been strong this season when he's carried the ball, but this is the week where he has to prove his worth. He needs to show that last week was not a fluke. He doesn't need another four TDs to do that. All McFadden has to do is go for at least 100 yards and a score. He averaged 10 yards a pop last week. If he can at least average 5 a pop today, Houserville, park your bandwagon out front of my apartment because I'm boarding the McFadden train.
But here's where I go, what?
Felix Jones? Really? Over Rashard Mendenhall? Really? I know Mendenhall's role is reduced in a way with Passing Ben back, but Felix Jones? He was useless in an offense with Tony Romo. How the hell will he be useful in a lineup without him? The offensive line in Dallas is awful. The Cowboys are awful.
Nevertheless, I'm going to go with Houserville with this matchup; however, I think Dwayne Bowe and Kenny Britt will make this interesting.
Jammers' Prediction: Houserville 124, T-Money 122
Jimmy Jammers (5-2) at World of Noise (1-6)
Why did Week 8 have to align with the Noise?
Of all weeks.
The Noise has been a pushover all season, and he should be the same today, but unfortunately for the Jammers, Matt Ryan, Roddy White, Ray Rice and Peyton Hillis are all on the BYE. That's nearly 100 points from last week's win on the bench.
Add in a doubtful Malcolm Floyd and the Jammers is left with scrubs.
He also had to go digging on the waiver wire for players like Mike Thomas and Mike Sims-Walker.
So it's up to Matt Cassel against Buffalo, and Jahvid Best who has been less than impressive since his hot Week 1 and 2 performances (however, Stafford is back in the lineup).
It's up to Larry Fitzgerald against the Bucs in a season when he hasn't done much of anything (bet he's jealous that Boldin got out when he did).
It's up to BenJarvus Green-Ellis, who has scored in four straight games, but has just one double-digit game all season.
If this game is close after Sunday, the Noise will look to Andre Johnson to bury the Jammers.
But the key to this matchup — if the Jammers can reach 100 with his scrubs — is the Dolphins-Bengals game. It's well-known that the Noise is all-in with the Dolphins' Chad Henne, Ronnie Brown and Ricky Williams, and the Bengals defense has been merely a spectator in big passing and rushing days all season.
Another dud by the Bengals could lead to the Noise's second win of the season.
Jammers' Biased Prediction: Noise 101, Jammers 92
Sunday Slackers (3-4) at Chinese Organ Thieves (5-2)
After a loss last week, the Thieves are looking to get back on track.
To do so, he'll have to win the running back battle that could be one of the best we've seen all season.
The Slackers have Steven Jackson, Cedric Benson and LaDainian Tomlinson going vs. the Thieves' Adrian Peterson, Jonathan Stewart and Thomas Jones.
I think all six backs are in line for good weeks. They all have the chance to put up big totals, so as long as they get the carries, they will rack up the points.
Of course, one or two explosive days by one of those backs will completely affect the outcome of this matchup, but we'll look at the quarterback battle as the difference maker.
Drew Brees is all but an injury away from fulfilling the Madden curse. He's had 10 interceptions and four fumbles in a so-so season. And when you're struggling, the prescription surely is not a game against the Steelers. That's what he has.
That means the advantage in this lineup goes to the Thieves and Phillip Rivers. Add in the fact that I love Jonathan Stewart for a huge day and Danny Amendola for a decent day (he'll get double-digits), and you see why I like the Thieves to move to 6-2.
Jammers' Prediction: Organ Thieves 143, Slackers 128
Jawz Attack (2-5) at Fear and Loathing (3-4)
The Attack ended a five-game losing streak last week.
This week, he starts his two-game winning streak and gets back into the playoff hunt.
Other than Brandon Jackson against the Jets and Marques Colston against the Steelers, the lineup looks solid.
Big Ben should be good for two or three TDs and MJD is going to go crazy in Dallas. It should be a big day with David Garrard back.
I also like Marshawn Lynch returning to his college area for a game against the Raiders. He'll at least get double-digits against the Raiders.
But the key will be Brandon Lloyd in rainy London. Orton and the Broncos need a bounce back game after getting trounced. Look for Lloyd to see several targets and I'm feeling two touchdowns in a rout of the Niners. Mike Singletary will be fired before he gets the Heathrow Airport.
Cheerio!
And I haven't seen he T.Ocho Show yet, but Ocho will put on his own show today.
Fear has a great matchup in Jamaal Charles, but the scary thing for him is that he is going with Jon Kitna, the backup warrior. He has shaky starts with Donald Driver and Justin Forsett, and the Seahawks defense.
Jammers' Prediction: Jawz 130, Fear 118
Team Boyer (4-3) at Graybill's Generals (2-5)
Since winning two in a row, the Generals have dropped two straight, but he's looking good in Week 8.
Matthew Stafford is back with many weapons to utilize and in Detroit, he should have a decent day, as long as he remembers that Calvin Johnson is his friend.
C.J. Spiller should hit double-digits and recently acquired Mike Hart is a good play because the Colts have no one else to go with at RB.
But it's the wideout trio that I like. Terrell Owens and Percy Harvin are in great shape, and Michael Crabtree — if he gets his head out of his ass — will be OK for double-digits against a defense that gave up 59 points last week.
Boyer, on the other hand, is in trouble with Ryan Matthews, who has been a dud; Cadillac Williams, who is in for Michael Turner; and Jason Witten, who lost his man-crush QB, Tony Romo.
With Turner, this matchup would be a different story, but the Generals should have enough points to squeak out a big win, because six losses is going to be tough to deal with in a highly competitive conference.
Jammers' Prediction: Generals 101, Boyer 98
