FB: 2011 JFL fantasy schedule released with pair of Super Bowl matchups to mark start of season

The lockout may be coming to an end — the key word being “may.”

But that hasn’t stopped us from trucking along with preparations for the 2011 JFL season.

Today, the 2011 JFL schedule is released with a different flare than we have had in recent seasons. Not only have I mixed around weeks, like I do every year, but I have switched up some matchups within weeks so we have a little different look than last season.

As usual, the Super Bowl contenders will meet in Week 1 in the annual rematch. The Jimmy Jammers, who will be looking for their sixth straight division title, will host the Super Bowl V Champion Channel 4 News Team.

The two squads met at the beginning of the 2010 season, too, which is why the schedule was mixed up so that way all six Week 1 matchups were not repeats of last year’s Week 1. The News Team holds a 4-2 edge in the all-time series against the Jammers, which includes last season’s sweep.

And both matchups last year were not close.

The News Team won Week 1 over the Jammers 146.2-101.1 and again in Super Bowl V 135-92.7. Finishing 12-4, the News Team has posted three straight winning seasons and since starting 2008 with an 0-5 record, the News Team is 30-11.

Not only do we have a rematch of Super Bowl V in Week 1, but also we will have a rematch of Super Bowl IV with the then-champion Dottsville Toasters traveling to World of Noise.

The Toasters handled the Noise 132.3-103.1 to win his first Super Bowl title. The Toasters finished 6-7 last season and missed the playoffs, and the World of Noise was 4-9 and missed the playoffs, too.

Despite the post-Super Bowl letdown, the Toasters were a tough team, finishing as one of six teams with a positive point differential at +1.6. The Organ Thieves led the JFL with a +21, scoring a League-best 1,612.3 points (124.0 per game).

The Jammers were second the League with a +19.5 thanks to some great defense — also know in fantasy as luck of the draw — holding teams to a JFL-best 99.4 points per game. The News Team was third with a +19.2, thanks to a 123.5 points scored per game.
