FB: JFL Week 13 Preview

Thursday's game was all hugs and no fantasy points.

There have been great Week 13s in the JFL.

The 2012 version should go down as another amazing chapter in the League’s history.

Sunday brings us a pair of head-to-head matchups that are going to be fun to watch, while the Noise and Fear will do some scoreboard watching as both try to win their matchups.

Both the Noise and Fear are projected to lose, so that will give the playoff spot to the Noise. Even if they both win, it looks like the Noise is going to score more points than Fear, so really, the Fear’s only chance is a win, and a loss by the Noise.

The other big matchups include Dottsville (7-5) at Team Boyer (6-6), with the winner getting the final NFC playoff berth, and News Team (8-4) at Organ Thieves (8-4), with the winner getting the NFC’s No. 1 seed.

Thursday’s big game between the Saints and the Falcons was meant to be a big fantasy night, but both QBs failed to score 14 points, and no fantasy player reached 15 points in the game.

It wasn’t pretty.

And it’s definitely upsetting when kicker Matt Bryant (14 points) is one of the top scorers of the evening.

But none of the NFC playoff battles were affected by the Falcons-Saints game.

They will be affected by some of the top-rated running backs in fantasy. Four top-10 backs are in the News Team-Thieves matchup alone, as it’s Arian Foster and Jamaal Charles going up against Adrian Peterson and Trent Richardson.

All four should be in for big days, too. Richardson is going against the 32nd-ranked defense, while Foster heads up against the 29th and Charles against the 28th.

Both QBs have great matchups, too, so it’s really tough to pick out who is going to win this matchup. I’ll give the edge to Peyton Manning because the Tampa Bay Buccaneers have given up more passing yards to this point than any other team since 1940. Aaron Rodgers has to go against the Vikings, who at least have Jared Allen and Rodgers has been running around like crazy.

Both the News Team and Thieves have issues at wideout and tight end, so this is really a toss up, too. To me, the key may be Charles. On paper, he should have a big game, but we’ve seen this before. He’s had viable matchups and then just disappeared.

So will it happen again?

After Bryce Brown ran wild against the Panthers, you would think Charles would be able to one-up him.

No matter what happens, we’ll have a good idea before the Sunday night game where this matchup is heading.

For the Toasters and Boyer, we cannot say the same. With RG3 going on Monday night against the Giants, I have no doubts that the Toasters will be looking to comeback on Monday night and he’s going to need a 30-point performance from his star rookie running back to win the game.

And I believe he’ll get it. It just seems like RG3 is ready to shine and lead the Skins to the playoffs.

Yeah, I can’t believe I’m saying that, but I now believe it to be true.

The Slackers would love that to be true. No, it has no bearing on his fantasy team, but he is a huge Redskins fan. And heck, it could be nice to watch the Skins in the playoffs after he’s finished with his playoff run.

His playoff run may not start in Week 14 if he can win this week, but that’s not a guarantee after Drew Brees threw five INTs and scored just 12 points. Fortunately for the Slackers, he had the aforementioned high-scoring kicker.

He just needs to hope that Tony Romo and Jason Witten take it easy on the Eagles.

Man, I hope they do, too.

I grew up saying that nothing mattered as long as the Eagles beat the Cowboys.

So, I need the Eagles to beat the Cowboys. They have to. This losing streak is killing me.

I understand Andy Reid will be fired at season’s end.

I understand that the Eagles be starting again from scratch.

I understand that it may be a while before us fans see the success that we saw in the early 2000s.

But to keep me going, I need to see an Eagles win over the Cowboys.

Just like I need to get a win over my uncle.

I’ve lost four straight and I’m in danger of hitting double-digits in losses. I’m not sure I can take that milestone. Yeah, the draft pick will be nice, but losing again will just be deflating in such an awful season.

Other than Tony Gonzalez’s 12.6 points, Thursday was a bust for me. Darren Sproles had 8.7 points and Julio Jones had a putrid 5.8 points. I’m sure Shonn Greene and Bryce Brown will go crazy against the guy who has made fun of them, while Larry Fitzgerald should make me second-guess my letting him go.

Kind of like Houserville second guesses his Peyton Manning release? Well, maybe he’s not second guessing that. And this week, he’s got the replacement, Cam Newton, in the lineup. After 46.2 points last week against the Eagles, he earns the start for the Ville as Newton plays the Chiefs. He should have a big day, along with the vast majority of his team.

That’s right, Houserville is going to handle the Noise today if all goes to plan. He should be in for big point totals throughout his lineup — he just has to worry about all the red on his lineup, marking probable and questionable players. After Jimmy Graham scored only 6.7 points, the Ville can’t take too many more disappointments.

The Noise also faced a few disappointments on Thursday with Matt Ryan scoring just 13.8 and Marques Colston scoring 83.

So you can see, the Ville won’t need much to overtake the Noise.

That means our eyes will be on the Fear. Can he put it together, win his game and sneak into the playoffs?

I’m excited to watch and see what develops.
