Just when I wanted to give up on everything, my fantasy team
scores more than 130 points and the Eagles pull off an awesome comeback win.
Too bad none of it matters for 2012.
The Eagles are eliminated from the playoffs and, as we all
know, I missed the playoffs for the first time in JFL history.
So, as I watched Week 14 football on Sunday, I was kind of
bored.
But then, the Eagles started a comeback, and then I noticed
the exciting playoff battles taking shape in the JFL.
Fear and Loathing was pushing the Slackers to the brink, but
a fatal mistake would cost him a trip to the AFC Championship game.
Fear benched Mike Wallace, as he has for the last several
weeks, and his 26 points would have easily won the matchup over the heavily
favored Slackers.
But I can’t blame Fear. There’s a reason he has been
benching Wallace. The Steelers wideout hasn’t done much of late, so it had to
be a great surprise for Fear when he saw Wallace score a touchdown.
His jaw must have broken a floorboard when Wallace scored
the second.
Still, he had a chance to win this, but Randall Cobb scored
15.6 points in the Sunday night game, while Alex Green had just 6.8 points. If
he could have only had Willis McGahee, who’s replacement when for 20-plus
points.
That’s the story of the year for Fear. Injuries. They left
him high and dry, and this week, it cost him.
For the Slackers, his top players nearly cost him. Drew
Brees struggler and only managed 21.4 points, while the JFL’s top wideout, A.J.
Green, scored only 5 points. He had a chance at a touchdown, but he dropped it.
But he survived. That’s all that matters for the Slackers.
With a 97.4-82.4 win over Fear, he move on to face Houserville, who can only
hope Cam Newton does what he did this week.
The Organ Thieves, who had the bye in the NFC, also hopes
several of his players duplicate their efforts from Week 14. His team scored
more than 140 points, as all three of his running backs went crazy, scoring a
combined five touchdowns.
And he may need all those points because the Spacklers won
his sixth straight game, beating the News Team 138.8-128.4 in a Monday night
thriller.
This matchup was tied at 125.2-125.2 after Arian Foster had
a 1-yard gain, but then Tom Brady continued his ridiculous night, totaling 41.1
points en route to leading Boyer back to the NFC Championship game for the
second straight season.
Brady finished with four touchdown passes, and nearly had a
fifth, but a fumble prevented him from getting credit.
Marshawn Lynch could have had five TDs, too, but he only got
to play a little more than two quarters against the Cardinals in a 58-0
blowout. Both he and Russell Wilson were benched with 10 minutes left in the
third. That came after he had 128 yards on 11 carries, scoring 30.8 fantasy
points.
Had the Cardinals actually scored some points, Lynch could
have stayed in and made a run at the fantasy record.
But the Spacklers will take his 30 points.
He’ll also look to get that next week too now that Dez
Bryant looks to miss several weeks with a broken finger. He scored 10.7 points
before going out — and good thing, too, because that was the difference in
this matchup.
That, and the fact that Aaron Rodgers was a playoff bum
again, scoring just 16.7 points against Detroit Sunday night. The News Team
knew after that game ended that he needed more, because with Brady looming,
Foster would have had to have had one of his big games. But he managed 15.3
points, which on most weeks would suffice, but this week, it was not.
Week 15 sets up to be a great week as the four division
winners all tussle for a chance at the Super Bowl.
