2015 JimmyJam League Baseball Season Preview (4.4.15)

I’m not quite sure why I keep doing this. The “Slammermetric Scale” was massively wrong last year and it was nearly as bad the year before.

This year, I don’t believe it either — and that’s chiefly because I’m happy with my team and not happy with where it ranked me.

Nevertheless, here’s how the teams panned out when you match up the ESPN projections of the main-line starters (projected starting 10 bats and top nine SPs/four RPs). Based off of the rotisserie style scoring, here are your American and National League predictions.

National League
1. Vandelay Industries 99 points
2. Philly Cheese Steaks 92 points
3. Chief Otto Parts 81 points
4. You’re Freaking Out 79 points
5. Steroid.ERA 72 points
6. JimmyJam Slammers 59 points

NL PREVIEW

American League
1. Gameday Gamblers 86 points
2. NJ Bombers 85 points
3. Big League Choo 84 points
4. Chalupa Batman 74 points
5. Jerkin’ My Kurkjian 73 points
5. Sex Panthers 73 points

The Wright Stuff
Vandelay certainly had the team to go all the way last year and with
strong pitching and a powerful offense, he certainly has the team that
is projected to do well again.

But will that be the case?

Projections haven't picked a winner in years, but Vandelay has the
team to buck the trend in 2015.
You can see why I’m not happy with the ESPN projections, but oh, well. Let’s play the season and see how it ends up.

It should be a lot of fun and a lot different than prior years with the new strategic pitching rules and the more balanced schedule.

Even if I somehow land in last place with the worst team in the JLB, I can’t tell you how much I don’t care.

This year is going to be so much fun. You all saw — or at least should have read, because dammit, I work hard — my MLB preview. I really think there will be some exciting races in the Majors this year.

I think we’ll have the same in the JLB.

I’m excited to see what the Outs can do with that Pitching Staff from Hell; I’m interested to see if the lineup filled with MVP candidates can lift Otto from the depths of the NL to the top; I’m anxious to see if the Jerk can live up to the great draft he had and make the American League race a fierce one; and I’m itching to find out if the Choo can dominate the AL like he did last year.

Mostly, I’m ready to prove the ESPN projections wrong.
