JLB Update: Outs, Choo Jays rolling toward JLB playoffs

I guess I owe you all a Jargon.

Well, to be truthful, I probably owe you all about 10 more Jargons.

Yes, it’s been a rough summer, and I know, the baby isn’t even here yet. The last time I came out to chat, it was after Choo and Parker connected for the mega-Kershaw deal.

Since joining the Choo, Kershaw has logged 54 innings, going 4-1 with six quality starts, two complete games, 66 strikeouts and a 1.00 ERA with an 0.78 WHIP. And it looks even better when you add those numbers to David Price’s, who has gone 8-3 with 114 strikeouts, 12 quality starts, two complete games and a 1.83 ERA with an 0.99 WHIP.

Choo is on fire as a result and he has a 15-game lead over the Bombers in the American League. The Bombers, who are 11 games under .500, have a solid lead on the first Wild Card spot, while the Jerk (153-171-50) and Panthers (146-177-51) are fighting over the final spot.

The Jerks and Panthers will face off in the second-to-last week of the season in a matchup that could decide the final Wild Card.

In the National League, it’s a tight race for the division and the Wild Card.

The Philly Cheese Steaks took a 12-5-5 beating last week at the hand of the Choo Jays, allowing the Outs to climb to within 3.5 games of first place. Both Vandelay and Steroid, sit 10.5 games out as they fight over the final Wild Card spot. And, at 10.5 out, they’re still in the hunt for the division or first Wild Card.

The Slammers and Otto Parts are just unlucky buddies sitting at the bottom of the best division in the JLB. The Slammers are 27 games out, 16.5 out of the Wild Card, so it would take quite the feat to get up to third place.

The Slammers does play the three teams in the way, so there’s that. (But, it’s not happening with a roster that has eight players currently playing in the minor leagues.)

Steaks Coolin’ Off
Someone better find a microwave, because the Steaks need a bit of a reheating.

Since an 11-7-3 win on June 21, one of nine series wins in the first 11 weeks, the Steaks have been in a slump, recording just one series win in Weeks 12 through 17. It culminated last week with a 12-5-5 loss to the Choo Jays. He lucks out that he has a pair of last-place teams left on the schedule, but it’s not going to be easy fending off the hot-hitting Outs.

The Outs have been the exact opposite, winning eight series from Week 7 to Week 17. He also drew even with the American League’s top team, the Choo Jays, during that stretch.

With a very favorable schedule remaining, he could be in line for a National League pennant.

And he owes a lot of credit to his stud third baseman.

No, not Kris Bryant. He’s only batting .249 on the season.

His other third baseman, Josh Donaldson, has been a true gem. It cost him Zack Greinke in the offseason, but with 31 homers, 85 RBIs and 84 runs scored, it has been a deal worth making.

Steroid can’t complain too much about the deal, either, as Greinke is 12-2 with 21 quality starts, 142 strikeouts and a 1.65 ERA (0.87 WHIP). Teaming with King Felix and Johnny Cueto, the trio has led Steroid to have the best ERA (3.14) and WHIP (1.17) in the JLB this season.

Steroid will need that to continue here to fend off Vandelay for the final Wild Card spot.
