It took a little longer than expected, but hey, not everyone
can devote their time to fantasy sports. Not even me.
It’s understandable some people couldn't meet the deadlines for the preseason poll. Life comes first.
That’s why the previews took a little longer to get out, so
instead of roll them out daily, I’m just sending them all out at once.
So, I’m two days late for the first preview, but I'll be two days early for the completion
of the preview series. I believe that balances out.
The Money Man won it all last year despite his last-place
projection in the preseason poll. I won my second straight division title
despite not being picked to do so.
In fact, all four predicted division winners were wrong last year,
including the Graybill’s Generals who finished with the worst record in the
JFL.
I say that not to rub it in, but rather to point out that he
was selected to win the NFC West once again, and this year, I really think
he’ll do it. He certainly will not go 2-11 again. I promise that.
Graybill had a strong draft and it was one of many
interesting drafts. It was really neat to see the strategies utilized by many.
With the new roster configuration, I truly believe it creates a scenario where
you can pick one of many roster strategies.
Do you want to go with 2 RBs and 2 WRs? How about 1 RB and 3
WRs? 2 RBs, a WR and a TE? Or 1 RB, 2 WRs and a TE?
I think this was a critical change in a 16-team league, and
we’ll really see that come together this year. Teams won’t feel trapped by
roster setup anymore.
What it actually will do this year is put the pressure on
the owners to make the right moves each week. As we see in the preseason poll,
some of the teams at the top have a lot of strong players, but that could turn
into a negative.
Houserville has all those players, but he’s going to have to
bench some each week.
What if he benches the wrong ones? Then, that first-place
finish in the poll doesn’t look so great. Same goes for my squad. I just used
Dawson as the example because he seriously has the best team on paper.
Jamaal Charles and Adrian Peterson, according to
projections, are going to provide serious fantasy points. Add in Jimmy Graham,
Brandin Cooks and Alshon Jeffrey, and that’s five positional players for four
spots.
So, we’ll see if that translates into his first Super Bowl
title, or the biggest bust in JFL fantasy history.
