2016 JLB Season Preview: Last year's MVPs pave the way for Outs

The baseball season opens today with three major league games on the Sunday slate. It's going to be a great day with some No. 1 starters Matt Harvey, Chris Archer, Marcus Stroman, Edison Volquez and Adam Wainwright getting the ball rolling on the 2016 season.

The JLB Draft on Friday night gave me little time to produce previews, but I put the time in on Saturday to punch these out. The draft was a lot of fun and the flow was great with the new 60 seconds per pick. It added a challenge that I rather enjoyed, and for the first time in a long time, counting both football and baseball, I didn’t get a lot of the guys I was targeting.

Strangely, though, it wasn’t because people were stealing them out from under me, per say. It was because where I slated to take them, there were players available that I could just not pass up.

It was a strange draft nonetheless, and I think it will lead to an interesting shakeup in the American League for sure. I also think we'll see the American League be a little more competitive. Last year, combined, the six teams went 1,134-1,274-364 as compared to the 1,306-1,166-300 the National League six put up. That should shift a little.

I didn’t do the Jammermetric Scale this year, partly because everyone hates it, and two, I just don’t have all day to plug in numbers with the season starting less than 40 hours after our draft completed.

That said, I won’t deprive you of my totally biased predictions. You have to see what I think so you can yell at me, make fun of me and prove me wrong, right?

So here it goes.
