I couldn’t watch it anymore. I had Gamecast rolling on my phone as the Raiders reached the red zone in the fourth quarter.
Tick tock, tick tock.
Waiting for the app to update with the next play was like waking up on your own at 5:59 a.m. when your alarm clock was set to sound off at 6 a.m.
Finally, I gave in. I had to go turn the game on.
As the TV came to life and NBC popped on my screen, Crabtree was the target on a fade pattern, well overthrown.
I dodged a bullet.
Next play, a near touchdown pass to some guy named Roberts. (What? I barely had the energy to turn this game on. You think I’m going to look for his first name? Google, please.)
A flag was thrown on that Roberts play and I prayed for pass interference and 1st and Goal on the 1-yard line.
But that wasn’t the case. Instead, it was illegal touching (the cornerback will resign from Congress on Monday), half the distance to the goal and that distance was too far for Marshawn Lynch to punch it in. I know this because the Raiders tried twice, with the second-down run nearly getting there as Lynch carried several Cowboys to the 2.
This down and distance called for the infamous tight end pass play that somehow always works. I was feeling pretty confident, but then Crabtree went in motion.
“He’s going to run a short out,” I said.
I knew it. Why the hell didn’t the Cowboys know it?
As the ball flew in the air, I knew it was over. My season, gone in a flash because Crabtree scored two touchdowns to give Jawz Attack the mere 2-point win over my squad to advance to his first JFL Super Bowl in his first JFL postseason appearance.
This loss all comes down to my two big mistakes. One, I didn’t start Nick Foles over Matthew Stafford. I thought about it, but it was just hard to give the reigns to a new QB at this point. Two, I wasn’t sure Zach Ertz was fully healthy, and again, I wasn’t sure Foles would love him like Carson Wentz did.
That was all for me as Crabtree scored his first two TDs since Week 7. He had not scored fantasy double-digits since Week 6.
I will forever dislike him.
I also will hate that all of a sudden Jawz got Aaron Rodgers back. Man, that’s a lucky break to coast through the season and get the big QB back when you really need him. For Jawz, those 33 points are a difference maker.
And now, Jawz gets to face the News Team, a long-time owner of Aaron Rodgers.
News Team is back for his second straight JFL Super Bowl after falling in the Nick Bowl a year ago.
He, once again, will look to become the first three-time JFL Champion. He won in 2010 and 2013 and is now 2-1 in Super Bowls.
He has been led by LeSean McCoy in the playoffs, as he posted his second straight 20-point performance to beat the Toasters 78-68.7.
He likely won’t need that next week because, well, Crabtree has gotten that WR thing out of his system for a few weeks.
What he will need is for Ben Roethlisberger pass TDs to count as actual pass TDs.
Yes, Steelers nation is up in arms over the horrible call, but it is sadly the right call according to the silly NFL rules. They need to change them ASAP because "catches" like that, like the Dez Bryant catch a few years back and the famous Megatron TD back when he played football.
It's things like this that make me turn off the NFL, and now, thanks to Crabtree, I can.
See you next year, NFL. It's been real.
