2020 JLB PREVIEWS: Sex Panthers

Everyone has a chance this year (except the Orioles).

That's the saying.

In the JLB, the same is true.

Even the worst team on the Slammer 'S' Scale, the Sex Panthers, has a chance.

But for the Sex Panthers, a lot is going to rely on the offseason acquisitions and the young players coming up.

First, let's start with Bo Bichette — a player I tried so hard to get from Dude (a deal he definitely should have made now) and tried equally as hard to get from Crox.

I just couldn't make it work.

So here he is on Gina's team after batting .311 last season and I think the sky is the limit for this kid.

For the Sex Panthers, there's bit more pressure considering the fact that she traded Yelich to get him.

"I think he'll be fine," Gina said. "And if he's slow to start, oh well... When do I ever care about the 'naysayers' anyway?"

Bichette is projected to hit 10 bombs and drive in 27 with a .282 average/.343 OBP. His stat line isn't too far off of that of Marcus Semien, who finished No. 3 in the MVP voting a year ago.

Joey Gallo, piece No. 2 of 3 in the Yelich deal, is going to hit homers and drive in runs, and Miguel Andujar is back, so there are some pieces here on offense. Luis Arraez has the makings of a Jose Altuve 2.0 with less power (all he does is hit).

There are some sneaky good bats on this team.

"There is no question in that, it's just a statement," Gina said. "So yes, yes there are sneaky bats... Watch out!"

You would think, as a journalist, she would understand how to handle a leading statement.

The pitching certainly has some holes with the IL filling up, but the fact that Jo Adell, Jarred Kelenic and Mackenzie Gore all could arrive this year and play most of the season is something we have to consider when evaluating this team. That's three top 10 prospects on MLB Pipeline.

"I'm pretty excited about all the young guys I have," Gina said, "since they're supposedly supposed to be great. I hope they don't get screwed with the short season and playing time, but it will be cool to see them play this year.  I think this entire season is just going to be weird so I'm just going with it."

Maybe it works out, maybe it doesn't.

In any case, she is going to be looking at a group of keepers next year that will include those top-tier prospects and 2021 is looking bright.
