JLB Winter Meetings coming soon - here's what you need to know

The JLB has been rather busy since the offseason officially began on Nov. 1.

All Crox wanted was the chance to trade, and like that, he and many others got their wish.

We will likely see some more deals coming as the annual JLB Winter Meetings loom in the new year. On Jan. 10, we'll kick off the fifth official JLB Winter Meetings. We had some "Wing-ter Meetings" prior to this, and I know there was one snowstorm that we jokingly called a Winter Meeting day, but this marks the fifth official meeting.

Which, I have to be honest, is about two more years than I thought.

This will also mark the first year — and only year, unless you fools can convince Choo and Parker to make this a yearly thing as I lost the vote 2-1 — where we have a draft during the meetings.

The minor league green draft will start immediately on Day 1 of the Winter Meetings at 8 p.m. I've changed up the timeline a pinch to make it flow better and not disrupt the actual Winter Meetings.

Here is the updated and finalized timeline:

  • Jan. 5, 11:59 p.m. — Deadline to trade minor leaguers and gain a draft pick in the minor league draft. (Trades can be made after this time, but the person losing a minor leaguer in a deal will not gain a pick, and the person acquiring a minor leaguer will obviously lose a round.)

  • Jan. 10, 8 p.m. — Winter Meetings kick off with start of slow draft that will occur on Slack on a special channel devoted to the minor league draft only.

  • Jan.  10-15 — Winter Meetings. Each team should make themselves available at times and be responsive on JLB Slack to entertain trade offers.

Green Draft Order (Straight draft, based off 2020 March draft order, number of rounds picking as of Dec. 20)

1. Monkeys Never Cramp (7 rounds)
2. Topton Tornadoes (3 rounds)
3. Steroid.ERA (5 rounds)
4. Sex Panthers (2 rounds)
5. JimmyJam Slammers (2 rounds)
6. Crox Sox (7 rounds)
7. Dunbar Dodgers (1 round)
8. Philly Cheese Steaks (5 rounds)
9. Big League Choo (3 rounds)
10. Little Lebowski Urban Achievers (2 rounds)
11. Quad Eh All-Stars (8 rounds)
12. Big Ol' Country Breakfast (2 rounds)

The draftable players are anyone who has the minor league "M" next to their name, and that includes any international players, so that certainly means the Dude has a leg up on us all with his offseason KBO scouting.
