JLB Breaking News: JimmyJam Slammers to rebrand in next 24 hours

PHILADELPHIA — The Jargon Sports Network has learned that in a shocking turn of events, the JimmyJam Slammers will follow the path paved by the Charleston Boiled Peanuts and change their team name.

Multiple sources confirmed this report, including JLB team owner Brian O'Reilly, who was the lone owner to come forward with information.

The Slammers organization declined comment for this story. #ThirdParagraph

"Yes, we are aware of the change," O'Reilly said speaking on behalf of the Crox Sox organization. "But we will not divulge any information as we have a long-standing trade relationship that isn't worth ruining over a name change."

The Slammers are expected to announce the name change within the next 24 hours and with little fanfare. One source believes it will be announced on a spur-of-the-moment Zoom conference call with media on Tuesday night, citing Covid-19 as a reason to not have a full in-person press conference.

"That was reckless," the source said of the Boiled Peanuts press conference on Monday.

According to reports, there were no safety precautions taken, and reporters and guests of the franchise owner were all sharing a buffet table covered in bowls with a variety of boiled peanuts.

"Just plain stupid," the source continued. "Delicious, but stupid."

The Slammers are the longest running member of the JLB having won the inaugural World Series title in 2007, which does not count in the official record book. They added two more World Series titles in 2011 and 2012, which do count in the record book but are widely contested as fake because they happened in the past and the past is something that isn't real unless of course it's the recent past which will continue to be real even when it encroaches on the past past.

Get it? Neither does the JSN.

That said, the Slammers are a sub-.500 team with one playoff appearance since their last World Series championship, so perhaps change would be good.
