JLB: Sources say Steroid.ERA will change name on Monday

CHARLESTON, S.C. — The Jargon Sports Network has confirmed with multiple sources that the Steroid.ERA franchise will hold a press conference on Monday to announce a name change.

Franchise owner Brian 'Butter' Palmer confirmed the news of a press conference, but he would not divulge the team name that will bestow his franchise starting Monday morning.

"I'm not at liberty to share any information at this point," he said, adding, "but if we were to undergo a name change, it'd be nuts."

Sources also confirmed that Zack Greinke, no matter what the team name is, would not want to remain in town for a name change. Here is the transcript of our phone call with Greinke:

**RING**

Greinke: "Hello."

JSN: "Hi, this is Jimmy from JSN, we've learned that Steroid.ERA will change its name. Are you happy with that news?"

Greinke: "No."

JSN: "Can you say why you don't like it?"

Greinke: "No."

JSN: "... And? ..."

Greinke: "Good night."

Other sources confirmed that newcomers Daulton Varsho and Jorge Soler were made aware of the name change before their trades and that the name change was the sole reason they both waived their no-trade clauses with their prior franchises.

Steroid.ERA has been in the JLB since 2013, and in eight seasons, the franchise is 1,431-1,685-466 with a .465 win percentage. In 2016, Steroid made its franchise's only playoff appearance, winning in the Wild Card round only to fall short in the NLCS.

"This boiled down to us shedding the sad, sorry shell of our past and moving on to a brighter, flavorful future where we can crack into the National League top two," Soler said.

Soler wouldn't share with us the team name that is expected to be announced on Monday, but he did say he thought someone smart could read through the news and find it within.

The press conference is believed to start at 9 a.m. and JSN will have full coverage after Mr. Palmer speaks to the media.
