SUPER TUESDAY in the JLB

What a day!

Yes, it's now Wednesday, but 24 hours ago, it was Super Tuesday. At this time (12:31 a.m. as I type this), Dude, Breakfast and myself were deep in trade negotiations for the biggest three-way trade in JLB history.

We've had three-ways, even four-ways in the league since moving to Fantrax.

But they've been deals that make you go: "Oh, cool, three teams."

This one.

Wow.

OK, I'm biased because I'm in it, but let's be serious, I'm the big loser here — right, Choo?

Dude, the reigning JLB Champion who had a Jargon Pitt roommate deliver the trophy a few weeks back, picks up two absolute game changers in Zac Gallen and George Springer, so he has to be a favorite for the National League heading into 2021.

Sam, who was the 2019 champion and didn't get the chance to hold the trophy — thanks Covid (and lazy Jimmy) — picks up Goldschmidt, Lamet and Dunning.

... By the way, let's take a break now. It's 1:28 a.m. now after I took a second to argue with a Trump fan on Twitter. No, it wasn't Choo. And a few second ago, I sent a trade to Crox that included my WHOLE minor league system and Kyle Tucker for Luis Robert. .... If he had woken, he had about 5 seconds to click accept.

He didn't, so this Jargon moves on.

Sam is looking good, too, after this trade with a solid Goldschmidt, who will absolutely have a better 2021. He was never able to get into a flow in 2020 with the Cardinals horrible schedule thanks to Covid. Dunning moves to Texas where he will have a great run, and Lamet, well, who knows why Sam wanted him. Injury concern galore.

I pick up players who will help me in 2022, and last season's postseason Marvel hero, Randy Arozarena. Is he for real? The analytics actually point toward yes, so yeah, don't be so quick to count the Slammers out on this.

Then add in the fact the road warrior German Marquez joined the keeper group a few hours later and it's not a bad Tuesday for yours truly.

The Cheese Steaks couldn't be left out, working some green deadline magic with his boy, Butter. Soler and Urias — JV's second favorite package (yeah, you know what's first) — go to Butter in yet another Butter deal that sends JV exactly what he needs to exploit the keeper rule with an SP in RP.

Last year it was AJ Puk.

And, yes, I wrote exploit, which would make most believe Jimmy is writing with an angry face, but in actuality, I'm just writing in truth. That's what the deal does.

Last year, it didn't work because we saw what happened with Puk. And now, yet another A's pitcher, there has to be a bit of injury worry there, too, so it's not a bad deal by Butter.

Certainly nothing like his 2017 offseason move with JV that sent David Dahl and Francisco Lindor to JV for Chris Taylor, Franklin Perez, Raimel Tapia, Marwin Gonzalez and Francisco Mejia.

Oof.

Man, I can't believe anyone would make a stupid trade for Dahl.

...

All this said, Soler had a year like many in 2020 and should be believed to be a bounce-back candidate. It truly is hard to judge someone on 60 games, which is insane to see in reality.

That's how insane this game is. Sixty isn't a judging point. Yelich proves that, among many. Hell, even the Nationals do. They at 19-31 turned things around to make the playoffs and win the World Series in 2019. they couldn't do the same thing in 2020. ... The A's started 19-31 a few years back, and then crazily went 31-19 in the final 50 games to make the playoffs. It just shows you how much 162 means. That same logic can be applied to fantasy players.

There were so many .200 hitters in 2020 who in a full 162 would have finished .280 and been considered untouchable in trade talks. That's why it's hard to say Soler is a bad get. I do like him. Hell, a year ago, I was trying to get him from Butter.

Wait?

From Butter?

Yes, that's right. Soler was an offseason move from Butter to JV.

It's like they have a speed-rail connection between Allentown, Pa., and Charleston, S.C. Constantly sending players back and forth.

...

It's 2:16 a.m. now. Man, can I keep this going?

No.

Let's get to the important stuff.

The JLB Winter Meetings kick off on Jan. 10 with the Green Draft. All players with 'M' status who have NEVER played a major league game are available to draft. Note there are a few players out there who played in playoffs who somehow due to Fantrax have 'M' status, so beware. If you draft them, that is your pick and you will not get them. Know who you are drafting.

That's all for tonight. Good night, JLB.
