JLB Winter Meetings set to start on Monday

The JLB Winter Meetings are set to start and one has to wonder what deals are left to be made.

With yet another blockbuster going down just four days before the Winter Meetings start, and several teams admitting they are finished with their offseason, it could be a quiet week. Especially considering that snow is in the forecast for Friday, and most of us know what snow days mean in the JLB.

Then again, Winter Meetings could be the week we really see some teams kick it into gear.

I figure we'll see some movement in the minor leagues leading up to the 11:59 p.m. deadline on Jan. 12 to trade minor leaguers or release them. Following that deadline, the 2022 JLB Green Draft will be set.

2022 Green Draft Order (Rounds with picks, as of Jan. 6)

1. Stantonians (1)
2. Dude (1)
3. Cheese Steaks (2)
4. Topton (2)
5. Breakfast (3)
6. Gamblers (0)
7. Sex Panthers (1)
8. Nutz (3)
9. Choo (1)
10. Quad Eh (2)
11. Slammers (2)
12. Crox Sox (1)

This can change after trades and drops and I'll keep it updated on Slack. The order will be finalized by 8 a.m. on Jan. 13, and at noon, we'll start the slow draft on Slack. Each team selects their player by going on Fantrax free agents and adding the players directly to their minor league system.

Upon minor league draft lock at 11:59 p.m. on Jan. 12, teams are still free to drop or trade minor leaguers, but they will not gain a green draft pick. All voids in green after that deadline can be filled in the 2022 JLB Draft in March.

So who is going to make a big splash?

Right now, there are a few teams that haven't made any noise in the offseason, and some of them probably should look at retooling in a few areas.

Quad Eh, the Gamblers, Topton and the Sex Panthers all have yet to make an offseason moves, and there's certainly some needs needing to be addressed on a few of those teams, so I would imagine that they'll come to the table next week looking to make some moves.

The Stantonians should figure to be a bit busy, too, as the take control of their new franchise and make it their own.

And, of course, even though many say they're finished, we all know how that goes.

I entered this offseason feeling satisfied with my roster, and here I am five trades later with eight new players after saying goodbye to six players who figured to be keepers.

So even though "I'm finished," I'm sure, like Choo, I'll be checking on on several players.

I'll be doing that on the JLB Winter Meetings Slack channel that will open on Jan. 10. It's only for posting trade information, like: "Player A is available, looking for a LF," so leave the usual chatter in the normal spot.

The countdown is on until Winter Meetings. Maybe, just maybe, everyone can wait a few days to give me some big deals to talk about during the week.
