2023 JLB Schedule is released

Jeremy Pena and the World Series Champion Big Ol' Country Breakfast are ready to defend their title.

They have been for weeks, as we all await the start of Spring Training.

But on the night before the JLB Winter Meetings kick off, they have a schedule to peruse.

With the season condensed to 18 weeks, but at the same time expanded back to 21 matchups so everyone plays everyone in 2023, it's bound to be a fun and exciting season, especially down the stretch.

The numbers 1 through 6 were placed in a random season generator online that produced a 15-week round-robin schedule for the division, and the numbers were then replaced with the team that finished in that position last season, so one being the Dude and six being Nutz in the National League.

Weeks 1 and 15 were dedicated to Interleague play due to the double matchups and the fact that those two weeks are longer weeks—in an effort to keep all divisional play equal 7-day matchups.

Week 7 was then selected to host the other double-matchup interleague week as it gave everyone a chance to play each other once in division from Weeks 2 through 6.

The first Interleague doubles was set to have the top-2 division finishers face the other top-2 division finishers from the year before (because this features the World Series rematch). The third- and fourth-place teams battle, and fifth and six.

With that, we end up with a mega opening week as the Dude and Breakfast face off once again in a rematch to start the season. The Steaks and Choo will also battle head-to-head with each other and the two World Series contenders from a year ago.

Plenty on the line in Week 1!

Week 2's notable matchups are the battles between the teams that won third place in their divisions last season, and the teams that just missed the playoffs as the Gamblers and Crox, and Slammers and Stantonians square off.

Week 3 brings back the division leaders from a year ago as Dude and Steaks tussle, and Choo and Breakfast play. I'd say tussle, but Choo's lineup is so depleted, it didn't quite fit the matchup. #ChooBurn

The assistant commissioners battle in Week 4, and Week 5 sees Freddie Freeman and Jacob deGrom take on their former owner, Quad Eh.

The ever-important Steaks-Slammers matchup finally happens in Week 6, a nice rematch of the tense Division Series from a year ago. Calling it now, the matchup is over already.

The other divisional series rematch also takes place in Week 6 as the ousted Choo looks to avenge his loss to Crox.

Week 7's interleague series features nothing too interesting outside of Sam and his recruits to the League, the Stantonians, and the Gambers vs. Quad Eh in the annual Union Tax Code Bowl.

The All-Star extended Week 15 features the household battle of Slammers and Panthers, a matchup that didn't happen last year with the unbalanced schedule.

The season closes with three weeks of divisional play before we hit the new playoffs in Week 19.

Weeks 19 and 20 will be the first and second legs of the Division Series; Weeks 21 and 22 will be the first and second legs of the League Championship Series; and the World Series will be aggregate over Weeks 23 and 24 with Week 25 in the bag as an if necessary week.
