New JLB records set in 2022

The record book has been updated — thanks to a couple days at home dealing with Round 3 of Covid.

And when it comes to JLB records, it was an interesting year in 2022. No one really came close on the offensive side of things with only the Crox Sox moving into the Top 5 in doubles in a single season with his 355 last year. That put him at No. 5.

The rest of the categories — outside of walks+HBP — didn't see any additions.

On the pitching side, however, we had some Top 5s completely transformed.

And it's not what you would think. Holds, ERA and WHIP all saw new record holders, and both holds and WHIP look completely different.

The Cheese Steaks, Crox Sox and Big League Choo became the first teams in JLB history to cross the century mark in holds with the Steaks leading the way (121). Crox Sox had 108 and Choo had 101, and Quad Eh jumped into the fourth spot with his 97 holds.

The Steaks, who set the new mark in 2021 with 95, still hold the fifth spot with that mark.

The JLB WHIP record was demolished as the Steaks mark of 1.133 from 2021 was outdid by three teams, including himself.

Breakfast now owns the new JLB record with last year's 1.101 WHIP, and Steaks (1.105) and Dude (1.106) are right behind him.

Lastly, ERA has a new record-holder, too, as Breakfast posted a 3.02 ERA in 2022. He was so close to being the first team in JLB history to pitch to a 2-something ERA. His record ERA beats an 11-year-old record of 3.15 ERA set by the Slammers in 2011.

The Dude snuck into third with his 3.24 ERA last season and the Steaks are now fifth all time with his 3.33 ERA in 2022. As you can see below, I'm going to start building out some of these Top 5s into Top 10s.

The only other change in the record book on the pitching side was the Stantonians jumping into fifth place all-time with 1,907 strikeouts last season.

Overall, the Dude moved to fifth all-time with 260 wins last season, besting his 259 from 2021, and that's all I have for team records as I need to work on that part of the record book.

I also will have a new addition to the record book this season, but I'll save that for a Jargon in the coming week.

See below for all of the batting and pitching records, single season, of course.
