JLB schedule is out with a fantastic Week 1 on tap

Spring baseball is here and we are oh-so-close to Opening Day.

Which means it's a great time to explain why everyone had more than a dozen Fantrax notifications this afternoon.

That explanation is simple. No, I was not changing the rules. I was making the 2024 schedule!

That's right, the 2024 JLB Schedule is officially out and we're back to the old format as discussed earlier in the year.

Everyone plays their division mates three times and the teams from the other League once, and we open with Interleague play in Week 1.

We have the World Series rematch to kick things off with the Dude taking on Breakfast in the first matchup that starts on March 20 with the two-game series between the Dodgers and Padres.

Note that the only way to have players in this matchup will be through keepers and the draft. Waivers won't open until real Opening Day.

Choo and Philly Cheese will also battle in a former World Series matchup, as will the Slammers and Gamblers, who have met in three World Series that are so old, the live-scoring webpages for those matchups were in black and white.

Rebuilders Sex Panthers and Tots also match up, while playoff hopefuls that fell short last year, Rocky Mountain and Tornadoes, meet up in another Week 1 matchup.

And then, we have the hibernating bears, Triple-Eh and Crox, facing off.

For this year's schedule, only one thing was purposely set up by your commissioner — the selection of the Dude-Breakfast matchup to be Week 1.

All teams were selected out of a hat and assigned a number, and then placed into a stock schedule for 12 teams facing each other in the ruleset we have. I then assigned each of those matchup weeks a "letter-number" combo and selected each week out of a hat to set the order, with again, the only forced matchup being Week 1, which turned out to be "Interleague Matchups No. 4" in my setup.

So even though I was able to make cool storylines above for all six matchups in Week 1, I promise you that only one of those was on purpose.

... And as luck would have it, of course, I end the season in Week 21 facing Cheese Steaks.

That proves to you that it was selected randomly, because my god, I hate facing JV in Week 21.
