JFL Week 13 Recap: Big point totals spoil playoffs for some

Really, Week 13?

Really?

I was really hoping for something more to write about this week.

Week 13 had the chance to be a very exciting week. It could have easily come down to the wire in several pivotal matchups.

But the fantasy gods and the Seattle defense kept that from happening.

In fact, the only matchup in question on Monday night involved the team with the Seattle defense, the Dottsville Toasters.

Trailing as he headed into the Monday night game and needing a win to clinch the No. 1 seed in the NFC, the Toasters got 14.3 points from the Seahawks defense to edge T-Money 85.9-81.8. If it weren't for a sack-fumble return for a touchdown early in the game (worth 8 points alone), the Toasters wouldn't have won the game.

We can also give credit to RGIII who, well, would you look at that, he scored 24.8 points. Right after I write something about him never scoring in the middle ground, he goes out and does just that, and for the Toasters, it was a welcome sight.

It earns him the chance to sit back and relax in Week 14 as I'm sure RGIII will score 45 fantasy points.

He'll face the winner of the News Team-Organ Thieves matchup in Week 14.

If those two would have met this past week, it would have been one of those "Holy Crap" matchups. The News Team, behind 43.1 points from Josh Gordon, scored 149.9 points in a win over Graybill, while the Organ Thieves posted 149.1 points in a win over Jawz Attack.

Peyton Manning scored 50.7 points in the Thieves' win, knocking the Jawz Attack out of the playoffs, despite a respectable 113 points.

Instead, Fear and Loathing was able to pull off the upset over the No. 1 seed World of Noise and he'll face the Jammers, who routed the Sunday Slackers 137-71.8.

The Jammers rode a strong wave of 72 points from a trio of players on Thanksgiving, and added 44.3 from Alshon Jeffrey to put away the Slackers.

He was one of three WRs to score more than 40 points in Week 13. Outside of Calvin Johnson's 41.7 points in Week 8. That was the first time in JFL history that a WR scored more than 40 points. Now, all of a sudden, we had three in Week 13.

Unofficially, that is. The News Team benched what would have stood as the JFL record for WR points with 45 from Eric Decker, allowing the Jammers to own the record with Jeffrey's 44.3. It's OK, though, because the News Team still got the 43.1 from Josh Gordon. Could you imagine if he had started Decker over Victor Cruz? He would have had a JFL-record 190 fantasy points.

But hey, there's always next week to try again. And I'm sure Decker will be in the lineup when the News Team's opponent has Peyton Manning.
