High Steaks: Brian, JV battle it out for more than just an imaginary trophy

One more week of fantasy baseball, can you believe it?

Fantasy baseball is still going on?!

I know, I know. After last week, that’s hard to believe. Week 23 in the JLB was so boring, I even stopped looking at scores by Friday — and I was in the damn NLCS.

Both the ALCS and NLCS were easy wins. The Cheese Steaks routed me with a stellar offensive performance that was far from necessary considering how poorly my team performed.

As soon as Thursday’s lineups were announced and it had come to light that I was only going to have one bat vs. nine Cheese Steak bats, that’s when the towel was officially thrown in.

I reacquired Adam Haseley and thought long and hard about my final two acquisitions.

But enough about me. Let’s talk about the 2018 JLB World Series. It’s the 12th World Series in JLB history, 11th if Parker’s counting and sixth if Choo is counting.

In any case, no matter how you count it, JV is going for a third World Series championship.

In his way is the Crox Sox, the man who went from needing a homer and a double in one final regular-season game just to make the playoffs to routing Parker and holding off the No. 1-seeded Breakfast for his second trip to the World Series.

Now, to win, he just needs to beat his good friend, JV. There's more than just a hope for someday having the Jargon buy a trophy and hand it to them. This could change who gets invited over for a dinner party in that fancy new Crox kitchen. (Crox Kitchen, coming fall on FOX!)

A friendship is on the line here. Don't let friendly texts and faux handshakes fool you. This means war.

"Laser. Focus."

That's what Crox said Monday morning.

To be celebrating next Monday morning, he's going to need more than lasers.

His path isn’t easy here, but if there is any consolation, his team has been one of the best in the JLB of late. And all season, his squad has had the best pitching.

The Steaks pitching is just as good, and his offense has been on fire lately, so really, this is going to come down to bullpens, right? It has to. Crox has had the second-best bullpen in the JLB and the Steaks beat the best one last week by putting up some crazy numbers.

JV somehow got some closers out of nowhere last week, getting two saves in one day from the Dr. Seuss combo of Neshek and Cishek.

You can’t make this stuff up. But could they …. Would they do it again?

Could they, would they on the mound?
Would they, could they collect saves abound?
Could they, would they stop the Crox?
Would they, could they strike out Jimmie Fox?

Not the Crox. Not the Fox.
He will not take down the man with Rox.

He cannot beat him here or there.
He will not beat him anywhere.

He will not eat green eggs and ham.
The Cheese Steaks are doomed like Sam-I-am.
