JLB Winter Meetings quiet in transactions, but loud in rumors

You guys know me: I’m crazy.

I had originally planned on writing a daily blog post during our Winter Meetings, but Sunday night was as Choo put it, “Yawn,” and I was at the Flyers game on Monday night.

So here I sit on Tuesday before the 10 p.m. to midnight window opens, and with about 26 hours left on our first official Winter Meeting, I am ready to blog about what has happened.

The short answer, “Yawn.”

Monkey and the Dude came together early Tuesday morning to swap Jonathan Schoop and Yordan Alvarez.

The Dude gets a top 10 OF prospect while the Monkey acquires yet a former Oriole.

Yes, the only thing better than having an Oriole on the roster is having a former Oriole.

Monkey wasn’t finished dealing, handing over a fourth-round pick for Seranthony Dominguez.

In the whole scheme of everything, those deals aren’t sexy, but they could be the lead-up to something more.

Whereas the transaction history tells a quiet, boring story, the rumors flying around this Winter Meetings has been fun to follow. All 12 teams have been active and Slack really has come through for us.

Yes, I’m patting myself on the back for that!

The one great thing to see with Slack is the green dots.

You log on and see Sam and the Dude green — that’s my example because they’ve both been active for 10 minutes now — and you start to think, Oh, man!? Who could they be dealing?

Now, as I type that, Steroid just turned green.

Man, Sam is really working it!

Big names are floating around and it seems like there’s a lot of “domino” deals in the works. As in, once one happens, a few more may follow.

We could also see nothing if no one pushes the first domino.

So, without further delay, it’s time to sit back and see what happens in the next two and a half hours.
